Medical Technologist/Technician (Healthcare Sciences)

Position Title: Medical Laboratory Scientist Generalist or Medical Laboratory Technician

Location: Artsy and Historic Coast Oregon Town 1 Hour East of Eugene, OR

Shift(s)/Departments: 4 Days/10 HR Shifts on Day Shift

Job Description:

  1. Collects, processes, and performs a variety of moderate OR high complexity tests on specimens and complete all documentation for pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic activities.
  2. Maintains equipment and records, monitors tests and procedures to perform quality assurance activities related to test performance.
  3. Gives direction and guidance to phlebotomy and specimen management teams, may assist with department orientation for new caregivers and students
  4. Consults with clinicians, supervisor, and other caregivers as appropriate on test results, requirements, and testing protocols.
  5. Maintains appropriate records for specimens, tests, and data. Utilizes computer systems in reporting and documenting analysis.
  6. Participates in department in-services and continuing education programs, attending lectures, workshops and video presentation as required. Participates in required competency assessment and proficiency testing activities. Provides active (CAP, HIPPA, etc.) support.
  7. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisory staff or as delegated by Laboratory Medical Director.
  8. Phlebotomy duties are required about 10% of the time

Job Requirements

Successful candidates for the Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Technician include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate Degree in Medical Technology or related healthcare science field
  • ASCP Certification or Equivalent Certification OR obtain certification within 6 months of hire
